Raising Agent
Experiment
1. Measure 1/2 tsp raising agent into a test tube
2. Half fill the balloon with water
3. Put the balloon over the test tube
4. Tip in the water
5. Record what happens to the balloon
6. Warm gently
7. Record what happens to the balloon
8. leave to on side, record what happens after 5 minutes, after 10 minutes
9. Which is the best raising agent

Baking powder
Yeast and sugar
Test tube
Bicarbonate of soda
teaspoon measurement
Type of Raising Agent Initial reaction. After warming. After 5 minutes. After 20 minutes
Baking powder. Air went into the balloon.
Bicarbonate of soda. Dissolved balloon.
Yeast & sugar. It dissolved. Foamed up. Balloon got bigger
